A MESSAGE FROM THE NEW Superintendent ~ 12/15/2020

A MESSAGE FROM THE NEW Superintendent ~ 12/15/2020

Dear Liberty School District Students, Staff, Parents, and Residents,

It is a tremendous honor to join the Liberty Elementary School District family, and to be selected as the new superintendent. Since being here, I have learned that the tradition of greatness existsting across the campus is due to the wonderful people in our school community, and the hard work of our students and staff. I look forward to meeting you and working with you during the remainder of the 2020-2021 school year — and many more years to come. I am excited to spend the coming months of the school year speaking with our dedicated Board of Education, meeting many talented students, dedicated teachers, the committed and involved parents, and collaborative community members.

Coming into the school year during a pandemic is most definitely not the easiest time to transition into this school year, however it is just our being at this time. Despite the many challenges we are faced with, I would like to celebrate the work of our students, the commitment of our staff, and the support of our families in this journey. I know that everyone is doing their best and will continue to do so and I also know that in spite of all that we are managing, we must find ways to continue to close achievement gaps among students as we move forward. I continue to believe that we will return to a greater assemblance of how things were over the next year.

This is my 20th year in this profession. During my career I served as an elementary school teacher, resource specialist in elementary and middle school, elementary and middle school principal, and superintendent. I received my Bachelor’s Degree in Interdisciplinary Studies, and my Master’s Degree in Special Education from National University, and my Doctorate in Educational Leadership from California State University, Fresno.

We may not know what the future holds this school year and beyond, but we know that we’re better working together. We are overjoyed that many of our students are on campus for in-person learning, where students are interacting with their peers and provided with a sense of safety, so that we may get back to learning, making memories, and continue observing the smiles that drive us to do better each day. In the meantime, please do not hesitate to reach out to me and/or the Principal, Mrs. Staci Soares by phone or email regarding any matter. I am enthusiastic to be at Liberty and I look forward to meeting and getting to know all of you in the immediate future.
